    Hi
I bought the phone from UAE and now I’m using it in Nepal. Will I get notification? Or will there be a region problem?

Usually it is not an issue. But accessing to the theme store may have problem because Samsung may hard code the server on the app. This can be different in different regions. Does local version S6 can access the theme store?

Did this update remove the night clock feature for the edge? It was really the only reason I got the edge instead of just the s6. It doesn’t seem to be an option in edge screen any more.

      Did you root the phone?

Anyway, there are no known solutions for this. The problem can be related to both server side and your side. If you are not urgent to get the update. Jut wait a few weeks.

If the phone is not rooted, and you need Marshmallow update desperately, you can try to backup the phone, try a factory data reset. Then try the update.

You can always ask Tech support to flash the update for you because your phone should still under warranty.

I just updated my Samsung Galaxy S6 to Marshmallow 6.0 and can’t seem to do a home screen edit. The one where you can press and hold any empty space on your home screen and you can adjust the icon grid sizes, you can add a home screen or change which one is the default, etc. Is that still usable? If so, mine isn’t working.

At first nothing, I restarted it and tried again after, it apparently kinda depends on the blank space. It wasn’t working where I used to be able to do it but I figured it out eventually 🙂

S6 Edge with Marshmallow 6.0.1. Only icons shown on lock screen are phone and camera. The ones I want have permission to appear on lock screen but don’t.

Successfully cleared cache exactly as recommended, but lock screen still only has phone and camera icons. Was able to add my name to lock screen, but that settings screen it only offers phone and camera and whether on left or right side of lock screen.

            Any other suggestions?

            Thanks.

You can change the two app shortcuts to other apps. But you have only two slots. You can follow this guide https://gadgetguideonline.com/s7/galaxy-s7-online-manual/galaxy-s7-lock-screen/

You need other launchers or lock screen apps if you need more than two apps on lock screen.

You can take a screenshot of the settings for edge screen so that others can see it. You can share it in our facebook page.

If you want to revert to Lollipop, you need visit local Samsung service center and ask them to flash Lollipop for you. Android does not have undo option for system updates.

Anyway, I still think the problem is very likely caused by some of your settings.

If you don’t like standard mode, your can always use summer third party apps. Easy mode removes so many features for Samsung apps and some system settings.

If you really hate the update, you can visit local Samsung service center to flash the phone to Lollipop.

Android (and other smartphone OSes) does not offer undo option. Don’t try to flash the phone yourself unless you understand what you are doing.

Notifications are going off every 60 seconds on my (Verizon) Galaxy S6 until I clear it. I just want to hear my trusty sound when an email comes in, I don’t want to have to clear the little notification bell, or listen to it every 60 seconds. I got an email in the middle of the night, and the darn notification kept going off every minute. Not conducive to a good night’s sleep. (And I wanted to wake up to the alarm, so I had to have it by my bed.) How do I fix this so it works the way it used to? A notification shouldn’t keep repeating like an alarm!

I touch and hold, thinking doing the action will make the instruction go away, bit it doesn’t, and I’m stuck with this text right across my kids’ faces

For the locking and unlocking sound, you can enabled/disable it in settings – sound & vibrations – screen lock sound.

Battery saving mode should be enabled only when you need it. Stock Android also use a different color to remind you that you are in battery saving mode and some features are disabled/limited.

Specially when i receive a call it’s very annoyning to read the contact, the image was a easier way to identify the caller.

Not to mention when I go to lock screen and security, the option “unlock effect” no longer appears. Only got the S6 Edge last week, Marshmallow 6.0.1, so forgive me if these are dumb questions:

    1. Swiping down home screen shows notification from T-Mob saying 46 MB of plan data used. Edge screen Data Usage Manager says 829 MB used. (T-Mob confirms 46 MB.) Settings>Data Usage says Android OS used 782 GB. So is Edge Data Manager including data over WiFi? Any way to get the Edge screen Data Usage Manager to include only 4G LTE data usage?

    2. Edge screen Data Usage Manager seems mis-formatted. It says “Data Usage” in white letters in black stripe at top. Below that there’s much longer stripe with orange background, followed by narrow black spacer separating a small stripe with blue background. The actual data usage info is written over the junction between the orange/black/blue, making it hard to read and annoying. Is that a bug? Should the data info all be in the orange part of the stripe? Any way to fix this?

    3. When any of the Edge screens is shown, there’s a description of that screen in upper left corner of the main screen. Is there any way to turn off the descriptions? I think it’s obvious what each Edge screen does without the description…

    Thanks!

      1. the data usage panel pulls data from Settings– data usage and is mobile data usage only by default. In Settings–data usage, you can show both mobile data usage and total (WiFi+mobile). Tap More button in Settings–data uage, tap hide Wi-Fi usage to show mobile data usage only. This number should match what you get in the data usage panel.

The inconsistency of settings–data usage and T-mobile reporting can be cause by 1). the billing cycle. You can change the cycle in Settings–Data usage to match your billing cycle; 2). some data usages are NOT counted by T-Mobile, for example, Bing on. Anyway, you should always trust your carrier’s number because they charge you based on this number.

      2. it is not a bug. Black background displays the limit you set, organge background displays the warning you set, and the blue background displays the actual usage. The problem is if you do not set limit or warning, a narrow strip is still there (without numbers). You can set the limit, warning in Settings–data usage– Set mobile data limit. Limit is the maximum you can use. if you reach this number, mobile data will be disabled. Warning is a reminder once you reach this number.

      3. There are many new edge screen users. I think Samsung will leave the words there for long time.

For edge lighting how do I select a color for the person I used to do it but now with marshmallow I don’t know how something changed

I want the edge light to be green for my brother and purple for my mom but don’t know how to change the default colors

    Hi-
Two questions about the S6 Edge with Marshmallow 6.0.1:

    1. Just started using the calendar app which was pre-installed. Got alert for first event I scheduled on desired date/time and deleted it on the alert screen. Next morning, got alert for same event at the set time. Clicked to delete, but message said “not found”. Same thing on day 3. Opened calendar and the event is not listed on any of those dates or on any future date. Where is it hiding and how do I kill it?

    2. Usually charge phone with Samsung’s stock charger overnight. It charges to 100% in a few hours using fast charging, but phone stays connected all night. Is there any advantage to turning off fast charging, even if it takes longer, since the phone is connected all night anyway?

    Thanks!

      1. When you get alerts again, you can tap and hold the corresponding notification on notification panel to find out whether it’s from S Planner. You can also check settings in S Planner whether you added the event to your Google calendar.

      2. Turning off fast charging may give marginal benefit to the battery. But don’t expect to much.

Only calendar that’s active is listed as “My Calendars” on Manage Calendars screen. Samsung Calendar, Samsung Tasks, Google and all the others are off. Didn’t get an alert for that event again today so maybe the gremlin is gone.

Turning off fast charging should mean less heat, so you don’t think that better for the device?

        Thanks!

          Thank you for the update.

For fast charging, the benefit is very marginal if you turn it off in settings – battery (or use lower power output chargers). Anyway, it’s up to you.

Before marshmellow update on Verizon Samsung s6, when I put my phone on vibrate (like while at work) all three other Sound options, ie Media, Notifications and System, would be on vibrate also, so it would vibrate when I received a text message.

Now, when i put the ringtone on vibrate, it completely turns off notifications and systems. Can’t even manually swipe them over to the right to set them to function. Any ideas?

you have to consider this a feature. There are no options to change this in Samsung devices (this is not the behaviour in stock Android)

You should back up your phone before resetting. Also, you should save contacts to your Google account so that you can access them from any devices. Photos can be backed up automatically with Photos app which was installed on your phone already.

If you get background, can you change the wallpaper?

          Simon,
Turns out those 3 features are not available when the S6 Edge is set to use WiFi calling as the preferred method, eg, “Use WiFi for calls. If WiFi unavailable, use cellular network.” which is the default setting on T-Mob. (Don’t know about other carriers.)

If I turn WiFi calling off, the 3 features, call forwarding, call barring, and call waiting, are immediately available.

Seems odd setup, but it is what it is…

Did you try to update through Samsung Kies on a PC? As the phone is carrier specific model, you need connect to carrier’s network to get update. If you are using a sim card from other carriers or in other regions, you can try to power off the phone, remove the SIM card, and try again.

S6 Edge (Marshmallow 6.0.1) was behaving badly – wouldn’t send MMS, frequent black screens etc. Powering off and rebooting didn’t help.

Followed instructions to clear the cache partition and when it rebooted there was notice of pending OTA update (T-Mob). Hadn’t seen that notice before clearing the cache.

Anybody know what that update was? The update was ~640 MB and took ~10 min to install with “Android working…” on the screen. It still says Android 6.0.1 so it wasn’t updating to Nougat which T-Mob’s site says is coming…

At least the phone is behaving better now, so maybe the pending update was responsible for all the bad behavior..??

    Thanks!

How can I get in my phone? I can not afford a reset because I have precious pictures , which I can not afford to lose. My back up is not set up to auto back up and doesn’t include the pics. I’ve called Samsung support not much help at all, and neither was Google support . 🙁 It is ridiculous that I can’t get in my own phone, with google account, fingerprint etc without doing a full reset . Any help appreciated…

Unfortunately, there are no solutions for this except Samsung’s find my mobile services. In Marshmallow, you cannot use fingerprint after a reboot. You need to use the pin/password to unlock it first.

Do you have a Samsung account on the phone? If yes, you can try Samsung’s Find my mobile to unlock the phone remotely. You may follow this guide https://gadgetguideonline.com/s7/sasmung-galaxy-s7-how-to-guides/unlock-galaxy-s7-and-galaxy-s7-edge-using-samsung-find-my-mobile/

If there are anything important, you should back up then routinely. Even the phone storage can corrupt at any time.

Hi guys, ever since the new update for Galaxy S6 Edge, the inactive widgets in the notification bar are not visible. For example previously when the torch was not in use, the torch button was greyed out but clearly visible and easy to see in case you wanted to switch it on. Also when in silent mode the sound widget that lets you cycle between vibrate, full sound, or on silent mode is now invisible. There is just a blank spot where the inactive widget should be. This has to be an error, has anyone else experienced this? Can anyone tell me how to fix it?

Unfortunately, Android doesn’t offer the option to uninstall updates. If you got so many problems after an update, you should back up the phone and try a factory data reset.

Anyway, the official way to rollback an update is to flash the phone in the local service centre. They have the correct ROM for your region. Don’t do it by yourself unless you know what you are doing.
