Set the audio mode of the phones to vibrate or mute. This will silence the camera. There is no seperate settings for the shutter sound.

For PC, you can install Smart Switch for PC. The connect the phone to the PC. You can either copy media files individually in Windows explorer. You can also use Smart Switch to backup all or just media files.

For smart TV, it depends on the OS of the TV.

The default camera is the rear camera. But the camera app may remember it’s last used camera and use it. In this case, you need to clear camera app from the list of recent apps.

Even when the zoom level indicator is on, you can still tap shutter button to take photo.

The zoom is usually activated by pinch. Try to use one finger to tap the shutter button.

If you configured volume key to zoom, you may disable it.

When u hold the camera with one hand, any of your finger of the holding hand or the other hand should NOT touch, not even slightly, any part of the display screen. If u do, the zoom box will appear when u press the shutter & the shutter will freeze.

This has nothing to do with a pinch motion or pressing the volume buttons. It is very annoying & embarrassing especially when u are trying to catch a special moment. This will almost always happen when u ask someone to take a picture of you with your phone.

Samsung should consider fixing this problem ASAP.

Not exactly, as I know. Zoom can be triggered by 1). pinch (the phone need detect relative motion of two fingers) or 2). volume button (if configured).

If you touch the screen, actually Galaxy S6 change focus to the touched area (touch to focus).

It’s heart rate monitor. Unfortunately, you cannot disable it when using the front camera. Some users find it is very useful because it may be not be convenient to tap the shutter button when taking selfie.

Why not get used to this feature?

As I know, you cannot disable the heart rater monitor.

To take a photo by holding the sensor, you need meet several conditions: 1. the camera app is on; 2. the camera is switched to front camera and 3). you hold the sensor for a while. It is hard to take photos by accident.

The gallery app in S6 does this in a different way.

In gallery app, tap the navigation menu (top left), choose categories (see this guide). People are automatically grouped as Unnamed_1..Unnamed_2….. You can assign a name for individual photo.

The front camera takes photos and flip it around such that your left has become the right side of the photo. How do I make it such that the picture taken shows up exactly how it was taken?

Hi I have had my S6 for a month now. Yesterday I took 5 precious selfies of me and my niece, which appeared in review. I went to show my sister hours later, and now they are blacked out with a camera icon with an exclamation point. Every trick I have looked up involves an SD card which this phone does not have.

Do you know why this happened and more importantly how I can retrieve my pics or are they lost forever?

    Thanks so much!

Yes, shows the same there and when I try to open, using gallery option, just shows the same pic, with photos option black screen with media not found message. This makes me think it may be gone forever. I just wonder how it happened. Like I said, the picture came out great when I snapped it. :-/

What’s the size of the file? It sound the files are corrupted.

You can try to take a few more pictures to see whether you have the same problems. If the problem cannor be re-produced, it is hard to find out the cause.

Also, remember do NOT use any auto features in Smart Manager. (you should NOT use that app).

Size is not listed in detail properties like my other pics do. I actually don’t appear to have Smart Manager (assuning its not the same as smart switch) I am not very tech smart so I don’t open any apps unless I know what they will do. Also I am wondering if I “lost connectivity” when the picture went to save? Maybe it displayed the photo first and then sends to gallery save? That is the only thing I think it could have done since this is clearly not a common problem for newer android phones. Thanks for trying to help me!

If the problem cannot be re-produced, you probably just forget it.

Gallery is just a file viewer. It has nothing to do with saving photos. Your camera app will save photos. Gallery app can view and edit it. Many other apps also can view and edit it. In camera app, gallery app is loaded to view/check the photo because the app is available on all phones.

All modes can only be downloaded from Galaxy Apps.

The modes are not pre-installed because “majority ” users don’t use them. Also the new Auto mode is good enough for most users in most scenarios.

I guess they have some sorta of usage data or survey data.

It is a correct move to make app interface as simple as possible. Remember, not all users are as experienced as you.

If you need these additional modes, you can download and install them. Otherwise, new users may be perplexed by so many options.

Anyway, Android is always about options. If you do not like Samsung phones/customization, you can get many good alternatives.

You can always start gallery app, tap that photo, then choose share. If no icons, tap anywhere of the photo.

My apologies if this has been asked (I was able to find), but in my old S4, I could change the settings so that edited photos remained in the same folder as all other pictures taken (with an additional character in the file name). With my S6, I’m not able to figure it out. Every edited pic is automatically saved in a different folder, which creates work for me to go to that folder, select the pics and move them to my camera (if that makes sense?).

You cannot change this behavior in Galaxy S6. Actually, it depends on the photo editor app you are using. Most photo editor apps save files to its own folder so that it will not mess up your original folder or files.

In S6, the default photo editor app (although you can still access it from Gallery app) uses it is own folder. This change, as I know, is responsive to some feedback/complaints. Some users don’t want to save the edited photos in the original folder.

Don’t choose any mode. Just tap the record button (next to shutter/camera button) after starting camera app.

Do you have an arrow icon? You can tap it to expand the icons.

If not, very likely, you are in easy mode. Switch to standard mode in settings – easy mode.

I can’t find the photo editor on my S6 edge. I want to remove red eye, but I open the picture, tap the screen and the only options at the bottom are auto adjust, share, edit and delete.

Tap edit to see the options.

You can always us third-party photo editing apps, for example, Snapseed is a good and free one.

Hi. I have a Samsung Galaxy S 6. I wanted to make it shoot in 4:3 ratio for printing. I found the setting to change the video but not the picture size. Does that mean I cant change it. Thanks for your help.

In the camera preview screen, you can tap the quick settings button for photo size as shown in this guide: https://gadgetguideonline.com/s7/sasmung-galaxy-s7-how-to-guides/how-to-set-galaxy-s7-camera-picture-size-and-video-size-on-galaxy-s7-and-galaxy-s7-edge/

PS. Samsung moved this setting into a quick setting button in Marshmallow. But it was moved back to settings menu in Nougat update. Anyway, this is Samsung….

Not sure what you are talking about.

Start camera app, can you find the shutter button?

Can you share details on how did you get the screen?

I have been using Gallery on the S6 for quite a while. When using the camera you could always tap on the Gallery button to the right of the take a picture button in camera to look at your last pictures. That Gallery button only displayed the last pictures and once you put them in a folder they were no longer available there.

How do I get that feature back presently Gallery shows everything including folders? Has Gallery changed there was a time when you could not create a folder in Gallery? How can I simplify the Gallery app so that I just see the latest folders and once I put them in a folder or delete them they are no longer in Gallery?

    Thank you,

    J

Gallery app doesn’t store photos. It only displays photos and pictures that reported to the system (a media scanner is working in the background). In previous versions, it defaults to camera folder (i.e., DCIM folder). In the new version, it defaults to all photos. You cannot change this. It has nothing to do with folders.

It seems the phone detected pinch or spread gesture. Did you try to use voice to take selfie? If the problem persists with voice method, it means you need to check the screen in local Samsung service center.

Gallery simply reads all image info and display them. If photos are not shown in the app, it means the photos were not scanned properly.

Did you check files in My Files app?

You cannot disable it. The button actually is a shortcut to gallery app for you to check and edit photos.
