This guide shows you how to easily turn off or remove Bixby Home page in Galaxy S8 and S8+ home screen.

If you want to disable Bixby button in Galaxy S8 and S8+, you may follow this guide.

What is Bixby Home page in Galaxy S8 and S8+ home screen?

Prior to Galaxy S8 and S8+, Samsung added Flipboard briefing to the leftmost panel of home screen.

This is one of the least popular features. It seems nobody except Samsung likes this annoying feature.  Luckily, you can disable flipboard briefing in all previous Galaxy phones.

Now, in Galaxy S8 and S8+, Samsung replaced the Briefing page with Bixby Home page as shown below.

Samsung Bixby is actually a good new feature in Galaxy S8 and S8+ and it works mainly locally on the phone.

But Samsung wants to stuff you with Bixby everywhere in Galaxy S8 and S8+.

Bixby Home (Hello Bixby) is Bixby’s claimed territory in Galaxy S8 home screen.

The Bixby Home page is very similar to Google Now page comes with Google Now launcher or Pixel launcher. You can personalize Bixby Home page to show your preferred apps, news and reminders.

It sounds great.

But what disturbs many owners is that the Bixby Home page occupy a dedicated panel in Galaxy S8 home screen.

Can I remove Bixby Home page in Galaxy S8 and S8+ home screen?

Yes, you can remove Bixby Home page from Galaxy S8 and S8+ home screen, just like what you can do with Briefing page in previous Galaxy phones.

But unlike Briefing, you cannot disable Samsung Bixby in Galaxy S8 and S8+.  You can only remove Bixby Home page from the home screen in Galaxy S8 and S8+.

In addition, there is a dedicated Bixby button next to volume button in Galaxy S8 and S8+ (see Galaxy S8 layout and Galaxy S8+ layout page). When you press the button, you will always get the Bixby Home page (Hello Bixby) even after you remove Bixby Home page from Galaxy S8 and S8+ home screen.

The limitation is due to the deep integration of Samsung Bixby in Galaxy S8 and S8+. You may mess up the phone if you try to totally disable Samsung Bixby in .

How to remove Bixby Home page in Galaxy S8 and S8+ home screen?

For Galaxy S8 and S8+ owners who do not like Bixby Home page (Hello Bixby),  the good news is you can easily remove the Bixby Home page from Galaxy S8 and S8+ home screen.

You may follow these steps to remove Bixby Home in the home screen of Galaxy S8 and S8+.

Step 1: Enter edit mode for Galaxy S8 home screen

You can tap and hold (aka long tap) any blank area in the home screen as shown above to enter edit mode of Galaxy S8 home screen.

Step 2: Switch to Bixby Home page

As mentioned, the Bixby Home page (Hello Bixby page) is in the leftmost panel of Galaxy S8 and S8+ home screen. So you can swipe from right to left until you reach the Bixby Home (Hello Bixby) page as shown below.

Step 3: Turn off Bixby Home page in Galaxy S8 and S8+ home screen

In the Bixby Home (Hello Bixby)  page, you can find the switch in the top right as shown below.

Drag the switch or tap it to make the switch in the left side. This would turn off Bixby Home page in Galaxy S8 and S8+ home screen

Not sure why we would want every interaction with our phone sent to South Korea for analysis. I completely disabled Bixby and setup the button to work with the camera instead. Bixby is not useful.

What’s the problem? If you hide the Bixby home page, it should not show in your home screen.

Of course, you will still see the page if you press the Bixby button. You cannot disable the hardware button.

I used Bixby remapper, it’s an app in the play store, slowed me to map the button to any app, I put it on camera, works great, you just can’t use Bixby at all or it will revert or something, but I don’t care because I never would use it anyway.

Don’t use Samsung phones. Bixby will come to more Samsung phones with deeper integration. This means it’s almost impossible to disable Bixby without breaking other features.

Ha ha ha … so for you Bixby would be reason not to use best tech and overall phones which are Samsung? 🙂 Never been so satisfied with any phone as with my current S8. Do not like Bixby, have disabled with app, from time to time come back … but at the end it is not so bad at all once you get used to it. Now I have enabled Bixby, will see after some time. But have have disabled dedicated key which is – IMO – completely silly decision and on the very wrong spot.

I am an intelligent human being, and sick and tired of people trying to f…ing help me like I am a total moron. Had I known this I would have looked at another phone. Next time I will check and make sure to avoid any phone with this particularly idiotic feature.

I would NEVER have bought the phone had I understood this crap app was on it and couldn’t be taken out.

You cannot fully disable Bixby in S8. But if you don’t set it up, it should not drain too much battery. If you really don’t want to use it, you can try to clear data for Bixby in settings – apps. There are several Bixby related apps. You need to clear data for all of them.

I have a new S8 (replacement of broken phone) and know I want to disable Bixby button and Bixby Home page right away. You solution requires that I go to the Bixby page, which in turns requires that I first accept all of the Samsung permissions and enable Bixby. Ever read those permissions? They are invasive and intrusive. Give Samsung access to all my contacts? No way. Is there any way to disable the Bixby button without first accepting all the Samsung permissions? Is there no button control screen in Settings?

Yes, you need to enable Bixby to disable the button. For today’s smartphones, you have to trust someone.
