Package contents in Galaxy S8 box

After unboxing Galaxy S8 or S8+, you need to know package contents in Galaxy S8 box so that you can understand the usage of each items.

Please note, in different regions, the package contents in Galaxy S8 box may be slightly different.

For Galaxy S8 and S8+, the package contents are identical except the phone.

In this guide, although we often just refer to Galaxy S8, everything also applies to Galaxy S8+.

What are the package contents in Galaxy S8 box?

As shown in the picture below, in a Galaxy S8 box you can find at least 8 items, including:

1. the phone, which is the top deck.
2. USB type-C cable;
3. adaptive fast wall charger;
4. USB connector;
5. micro USB connector;
6. ejection pin;
7. AKG earphone; and
8. additional earphone gel tips.

Of course, there are some get-started leaflets and safety manual not shown in the picture below.

Usage of package contents in Galaxy S8 box

In addition to the Galaxy S8 phone (or Galaxy S8+ phone), all of the accessories in the Galaxy S8 box can help you in some special ways.

USB type-C cable

You need to use the USB type-C cable to charge Galaxy S8 battery unless you use wireless charging.

USB cable can also be used to connect to your PC or other devices to transfer data.

Please note, Galaxy S8 and S8+ use USB type-C port. The USB cable in the package is a USB type-C cable (normal Type-A to Type-C). You should never insert your old micro USB cable directly into Galaxy S8 or S8.

The USB Type-C connector is symmetric.  You can insert the cable into the phone in either orientation.

Wall charger

The included wall charger in Galaxy S8 box is an adaptive fast charger.

You can use this charger to charge Galaxy S8 or S8+ in fast charging mode. Of courser, you can also disable fast charging.

If you bought a wireless charging pad, or fast wireless charging pad, you need to use an adaptive fast wall charger to power the wireless charging pad.

USB connector (USB type-C)

The USB connector is for you to connect external USB devices or accessories.

For example, you can connect an external USB drive to Galaxy S8 or S8+ with this USB type-C connector.

You can also use USB connector to connect old device to Galaxy S8 to transfer data from old device to Galaxy S8.

To use USB connector, you need to insert the connect to the USB port in Galaxy S8 (see Galaxy S8 layout), then insert normal USB able to female end.

micro USB connector 

Micro USB connector, which is smaller than USB connector, is an adapter for micro USB cables.

As mentioned, you should never insert micro USB cable directly into Galaxy S8 or S8+.  But this does not mean you cannot use old micro USB cable with Galaxy S8 or S8+.

To use micro USB cable with Galaxy S8 or S8+, you must use this micro USB connector.

You need to insert the micro USB cable into this micro USB connector, then insert the micro USB connector to Galaxy S8 or S8+.

This micro USB connector can also be used for wireless charging pad (for example this one) with USB type-C input port, when you only have micro USB cables.

Ejection pin

You need to use this ejection pin to eject the SIM card tray.

Earphone and additional earphone gel tips

In almost all regions, a premium AKG earphone (which was bought by Samsung, btw) is included in the Galaxy S8 box.

The sound quality is arguably better than old Samsung earphones.

Like other earphones, you can find two pairs of additional earphone gel tip. One pair is smaller than the default one, and the other pair is larger.

Additional earphone gel tips are designed for different ears, not offered as spare parts.
