Not sure why we would want every interaction with our phone sent to South Korea for analysis. I completely disabled Bixby and setup the button to work with the camera instead. Bixby is not useful.
Christine says
I followed the steps and my problem still exists
simon says
What’s the problem? If you hide the Bixby home page, it should not show in your home screen.
Of course, you will still see the page if you press the Bixby button. You cannot disable the hardware button.

No Bixby for me says
I used Bixby remapper, it’s an app in the play store, slowed me to map the button to any app, I put it on camera, works great, you just can’t use Bixby at all or it will revert or something, but I don’t care because I never would use it anyway.
Diana Lockridge says
I HATE bixby it was a bad idea and to try and force it on people makes me think about the Terminator. It should be optional and completely removable. Samsung should just do them and forget about keeping up with Alexa and Siri
Akos says
hi,
i fully agree with you.
plase let us know how to disable the bixby button, how to remove bixby sw from s8, how to re-configure the left button to start any other application than bixby.
thx!

simon says
Don’t use Samsung phones. Bixby will come to more Samsung phones with deeper integration. This means it’s almost impossible to disable Bixby without breaking other features.

Ha ha ha … so for you Bixby would be reason not to use best tech and overall phones which are Samsung? 🙂 Never been so satisfied with any phone as with my current S8. Do not like Bixby, have disabled with app, from time to time come back … but at the end it is not so bad at all once you get used to it. Now I have enabled Bixby, will see after some time. But have have disabled dedicated key which is – IMO – completely silly decision and on the very wrong spot.

I agree with all the people who complain about being forced to see this stupid Bixby crap. I DO NOT NEED SOME SOFTWARE TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO! I am an intelligent human being, and sick and tired of people trying to f…ing help me like I am a total moron. Because, that’s what I feel they are doing these days: trying to dumb us down so much, we will swallow any crap they feed us. GRRRR!!!
Serge says
PS: I bought this S8+ phone because it got the highest rating in Consumer Reports. But they failed to take a few points away for this huge design mistake. Had I known this I would have looked at another phone. Next time I will check and make sure to avoid any phone with this particularly idiotic feature.
Stacey says
Hate it. I have force stopped the app over & over. It just comes back like a bad dream. Love the phone…. Hate the demi-god approach to phone. Let me chose what I want help with.

You can get used to a nail stuck through your foot, too, if it’s there long enough. Dopey fan boy …

Maybe we can get Kim Jong Un to drop one of his crappy missiles on the whole Samsung group who thought Bixby was a great idea to force on people .. this has got to be the worst, most irritating application ever conceived and wasted on an otherwise nicely done piece of hardware. I would NEVER have bought the phone had I understood this crap app was on it and couldn’t be taken out.
Frustrated says
I followed the steps and I’m still having the same problem. It’s draining my battery.
simon says
You cannot fully disable Bixby in S8. But if you don’t set it up, it should not drain too much battery. If you really don’t want to use it, you can try to clear data for Bixby in settings – apps. There are several Bixby related apps. You need to clear data for all of them.

EASIEST FIX! Glue the stupid button on the new case you KNOW you are going to have to buy anyway. All of these solutions I read require you to ACTIVATE Bixby before you proceed. I am NOT activating it – to look at the permissions you have to give it – no thanks!
Jean says
This trick worked for awhile – all of a sudden this weekend the screen is back if you swipe! It is still turned off as above – but shows up again when swiping!!! Has this happened to anyone else? And do we have fix for it?

Are you sure it is turned off? When you are in other home screen panel, what’s the leftmost screen panel indicator, dot or two lines?

The problem is that Samsung believes Bixby is their future. So they tried very hard to promote Bixby.

I have a new S8 (replacement of broken phone) and know I want to disable Bixby button and Bixby Home page right away. You solution requires that I go to the Bixby page, which in turns requires that I first accept all of the Samsung permissions and enable Bixby. Ever read those permissions? They are invasive and intrusive. Give Samsung access to all my contacts? No way. Is there any way to disable the Bixby button without first accepting all the Samsung permissions? Is there no button control screen in Settings?
simon says
Yes, you need to enable Bixby to disable the button. For today’s smartphones, you have to trust someone.
