The One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, brings a significant refresh to the Samsung Galaxy S24, S23, S22, and S21, encompassing both user-facing enhancements and substantial under-the-hood technical advancements introduced in the Galaxy S25. This update refines the user experience, deepens AI integration, and improves overall system performance and security.

The Drawing Assist, an extension to the original Sketch to Image with Galaxy AI, greatly simplifies the image creation process.
You can start your artistic projects with a basic sketch, incorporate existing images, or convey a specific concept through prompts (descriptions). The drawing Assist can then generate images in a wide variety of artistic styles, ranging from realistic depictions to abstract interpretations, thereby accommodating diverse aesthetic preferences and creative needs.
Browsing Assist (updated with new functions)
Browsing Assist expands its functionality by introducing a read-aloud feature in the One UI 7 (Android 15) update.
This enhancement lets you listen to the excerpts (which is an existing Browsing Assist function in Galaxy AI) from articles and websites while you browse. Furthermore, you have the option to queue top stories from news websites to the playlist, facilitating a seamless audio experience within the Samsung Internet browser.
AI Select (updated and improved)
When using the AI Select feature, if you highlight a portion of your screen, a range of helpful actions will be presented to you based on the content you've selected. It works on all models and does not rely on the S Pen.
For instance, if your selection includes event details such as a meeting time or a date, you’ll be given the option to seamlessly add this information directly to your calendar, ensuring you never miss important dates. If you select an image, the AI will suggest various editing tools and options, allowing you to enhance or modify the image with just a few clicks.
AI Search in Settings (new)
The implementation of natural language processing in search functionalities delivers more precise and contextually relevant results in the phone Settings (Settings app). You can use AI-powered search to effectively query entries even when you are uncertain about the exact terminology of the desired setting.
The feature currently supports a multitude of languages, including Korean, English (US, UK, India), Spanish (Spain, Mexico), Portuguese (Brazil), German, Italian, Japanese, French, and Chinese.

Remember, if you double-press the Side button, the camera app opens. This is called camera quick launch for Galaxy S25, S24, S23, S22, and S21.
Cross App Action (new)
Google Gemini has been tightly integrated with a variety of Samsung applications, including Calendar, Notes, Reminders, and Clock, providing Cross App Action with Gemini on Galaxy phones with the One UI 7 (Android 15) update. These design changes not only beautify your device but also improve the immediate recognition of the applications you frequently use.
In addition to the updated icons, widgets have undergone a comprehensive redesign, adopting a unified layout for a cohesive look across the screen. This makes it easier than ever to identify and interact with essential information at a glance.
Moreover, the folders on your Home screen are now customizable in size, allowing you to expand them for quicker access to your favorite apps. The One UI 7 (Android 15) update enhances customization options for the Home screen, allowing for a more tailored user interface. You can now modify app icon sizes and opt to display or hide text labels beneath the icons and featured widgets.

This includes features such as live notifications, music playback indicators, voice recorder, stopwatch, timer, Samsung Health, and the status of active modes or routines. This capability is similar to Apple's Live Activities introduced in iOS 16, enhancing user interactivity and enabling immediate access to critical information without the need to unlock the device.
Please note Now Brief is still exclusive to Galaxy S25. So, in the Now Bar, the Now Brief is not available for Galaxy S24, S23, S22, and S21.

Separate notification and quick panels
One UI 7 adds an option for separation between the notification panel and the quick settings panel, providing dedicated spaces for each.
You can quickly access the quick settings panel by swiping down from the top right corner of the display, while a gesture from any other area along the top edge will open the notification panel.
If you still prefer the old style with two panels mixed, you can change to “Together” mode in Quick panel settings.
Customize your quick panel
One UI 7 (Android 15) update enhances customization options for the quick panel, enabling you to tailor the interface to your preferences.
By tapping the pencil icon located at the top of the quick panel, users can access Edit mode, which allows for the repositioning of buttons and controls by drag-and-drop.

The One UI 7 update also refreshed the design of the Camera app. As explained in this guide, camera buttons, controls, and modes have been reorganized to make it easier to find the features you need and to give you a clearer preview of the picture you're taking or the video you're recording.
Camera mode selection improvements
The More camera modes interface has undergone a redesign in One UI 7. The new layout opts for a compact pop-up menu that occupies only the lower portion of the screen, allowing for a less obtrusive selection process, as opposed to the previous full-screen overlay that obstructed the camera view.

Save exposure settings for each mode
You can control how bright or dark your images are with the Exposure option in the camera quick controls. In the One UI 7 update, after you set the exposure for a mode, it will stay set in that mode even if you switch to a new mode and come back.
Improved Pro/Pro video modes

Notably, a newly implemented zoom control feature allows for customizable zoom speed during video recording, facilitating smooth transitions. Additionally, microphone controls in Pro Video mode have been relocated to the quick access controls, improving efficiency and workflow for users.
Exposure monitors for Pro and Proi Video modes (new in One UI 7)
The Exposure Monitor feature introduced in the One UI 7 update for Pro and Pro video modes enhances exposure control for photographers and videographers. You can select the Zebra pattern to visually indicate underexposed or overexposed regions with striped overlays, or opt for the False Color mode, which employs a color-coded palette to represent varying exposure levels across the image. This functionality allows for precise adjustments in dynamic lighting conditions, ensuring optimal image quality.
Record videos in log format (new in One UI 7 update)
With the One UI 7 update, you gain advanced capabilities for video color grading by utilizing the log recording format. Simply enable the Log setting within the Camera settings to activate it in the preview interface, and you’re ready to start shooting.
This feature is available in both Video and Pro Video modes only.
Play audio while recording videos
It is now possible to record videos without disrupting the music, podcasts, or other audio content currently being listened to. To utilize this feature, simply activate the Audio Playback option within the Advanced Video Settings.
