Samsung updated Galaxy AI with the release of Galaxy S25. Some new Galaxy AI features were added and some existing Galaxy AI features were udpated.
This Galaxy AI guide explains the new Galaxy AI features in Galaxy S25, including Now Brief, Cross app action, Audio Eraser, Auto Trim, Personal Data Engine, ProScaler, Multimodal AI agents, AI Select, Writing Assist, and Drawing Assist.
Galaxy AI features introduced in One UI 6.1 and One UI 6.1.1 were explained on this page.
All these 10 new Galaxy AI features, except ProScaler, are available on all three models of Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra.
Update: One UI 8 update introduced some new Galaxy AI features and improvements, as explained in this post.
1. Now Brief
One of the most practical new features of the Galaxy S25 is called Now Brief. This AI-driven tool offers users personalized summaries tailored to their preferences. You choose (enroll) apps and content to be included for Now Brief. For instance, in the morning, users can check their daily schedules and receive energy scores from their Samsung wearables.
Now Brief is readily accessible on the Galaxy S25 lock screen through the Now Bar located at the bottom. You can also add a shortcut or widget for Now Brief on the Home screen of the Galaxy S25. Additionally, you can access Now Brief from the Edge panel at any time.
You will receive three briefings each day by default: one in the morning, one at midday, and one in the evening.
2. Cross App Action
The Cross App Action is actually powered by Gemini, which is integrated with Samsung's Galaxy AI to access Galaxy native apps (pre-installed apps). Samsung marked this feature as Seamless action across apps. You can access it in various ways, e.g., by pressing and holding the Side key.
The Cross App Action feature works with Google Apps, Galaxy Native Apps, and a select few third-party apps like WhatsApp and Spotify. You can ask Gemini to perform multiple tasks in a single command, either by typing prompts or using your voice. The most powerful aspect of this Galaxy AI feature is its ability to interact with live content, such as video streams, and across multiple apps.
This is one of the most meaningful new Galaxy AI features.
3. Audio Eraser
One of the prominent new features within the Galaxy AI for Galaxy S25 is the Audio Eraser. This new tool utilizes AI to assist you in eliminating unwanted noise from video recordings. The scope of noise removal includes various auditory disruptions, such as conversations, background music, wind, natural sounds, and crowd noise. You have the capability to regulate or remove these unwanted sounds in their videos, enhancing the overall viewing experience.
Currently, Audio Eraser can identify and isolate up to 6 types of noises in your video. You can access this feature in the Gallery app.
4. Auto Trim
Auto Trim is an innovative productivity feature integrated into the Galaxy S25, designed specifically for those looking to create engaging video content with minimal effort. This cutting-edge Galaxy AI tool utilizes advanced artificial intelligence algorithms to analyze your video footage, identifying and extracting key scenes with precision.
As a result, it generates polished, auto-edited videos instantly, significantly cutting down the time you typically spend on the editing process. This means you can devote more of your energy to capturing new footage and sharing your creative vision, while Auto Trim handles the intricacies of video compilation effortlessly. Whether you're a content creator or simply want to streamline your video projects, this feature empowers you to enhance your workflow and boost productivity.
5.Personal Data Engine
As privacy concerns grow, more smartphone users are becoming increasingly aware of where their personal data is stored and how it can be accessed. This worry intensifies with the rise of powerful cloud-based AI models, heightening fears about data security and control in our interconnected world.
So, Samsung has introduced the Personal Data Engine with the Galaxy S25, designed specifically for Galaxy AI. This new feature integrates and processes user data to provide personalized recommendations directly on the device. It utilizes advanced encryption techniques to ensure the security of this information, storing it securely on the device through Knox Vault, which prevents unauthorized access. With the implementation of the Personal Data Engine in the Galaxy S25, you can be assured that your personal data is maintained with a high level of privacy and security, applicable exclusively to on-device artificial intelligence functionalities.
6. ProScaler
Another new Galaxy AI feature in Galaxy S25 is ProScaler, Samsung claims can enhance display image scaling quality by as much as 40 percent. This improvement is facilitated through the integration of Samsung's mobile Digital Natural Image engine (mDNie) within the custom Snapdragon 8 Elite processor for Galaxy. ProScaler is designed to optimize image clarity and color fidelity, thereby ensuring an elevated visual experience for users.
Unfortunately, ProScaler is only available on Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra. The base model (Galaxy S25) does not support this feature.
7. Multimodal AI agents
The Galaxy S25 has introduced multimodal AI agents that greatly enhance the capabilities of Galaxy AI. These advanced AI agents are designed to interpret and process various types of input, such as text, spoken language, images, and videos. This functionality enables Galaxy AI to facilitate interactions that are both intuitive and natural, allowing users to communicate and engage with their devices in a more human-like manner.
For example, in Galaxy S25 Settings, you can talk to the phone to change settings. Similarly, in the Gallery app, you can interact with the app using your voice. Very likely, in the future, more apps will also get the multimodality.
8. AI Select
AI Select in Galaxy S25 is an updated (and renamed) Smart Select in One UI 6.1.1. You can use it with the S Pen (Galaxy S25 Ultra) or Edge screen (all models).
9. Writing Assist
In One UI 6.1 or 6.1.1, Writing Assist does not have its own entry under Galaxy AI settings. It was embedded in other Assists, e.g., Chat Assist, although it is actually an AI feature of Samsung Keyboard.
In Galaxy S25, Writing Assist now has a dedicated entry in the Galaxy AI settings page, with additional features like summarization, text formatting, and the ability to create tables.
10. Drawing Assist
Drawing Assist was introduced to Galaxy AI in the One UI 6.1.1 update, featuring a single capability called Sketch to Image.
In the Galaxy S25, Drawing Assist has been reintroduced as a new Galaxy AI feature. Besides sketching, you can use text prompts or other images to create pictures in various styles.
