  • Hi
I bought the phone from UAE and now I'm using it in Nepal. Will I get notification? Or will there be a region problem?

    • Usually it is not an issue. But accessing to the theme store may have problem because Samsung may hard code the server on the app. This can be different in different regions. Does local version S6 can access the theme store?

    • I have the same problems regarding the app shortcuts, it won't show up even if i wipe the cache partition and rebooted the system many times. But still nothing happens. I followed your early advices from the previous people who asked the same problem. Please help me, I'm getting frustrated :(

  • Did this update remove the night clock feature for the edge? It was really the only reason I got the edge instead of just the s6. It doesn't seem to be an option in edge screen any more.

  • My lock screen wallpaper will no longer change to match a theme. I've tried changing it manually to just a gallery imagine as well but it remains stuck on the default theme pic.

  • Hi,

I recently upgraded my Samsung galaxy s6 edge+ to Marshmallow. However, the color of my status bar (top bar with battery, etc.) is grey and it doesn't change with themes either. Is this normal with Marshmallow? Hope you could help me.

    Thanks!

  • I keep getting error code 411. Verizon has no idea why the update won't run? Any ideas? Very strong wifi signal and full 4 g and battery!

    • Did you root the phone?

Anyway, there are no known solutions for this. The problem can be related to both server side and your side. If you are not urgent to get the update. Jut wait a few weeks.

If the phone is not rooted, and you need Marshmallow update desperately, you can try to backup the phone, try a factory data reset. Then try the update.

You can always ask Tech support to flash the update for you because your phone should still under warranty.

  • I just updated my Samsung Galaxy S6 to Marshmallow 6.0 and can't seem to do a home screen edit. The one where you can press and hold any empty space on your home screen and you can adjust the icon grid sizes, you can add a home screen or change which one is the default, etc. Is that still usable? If so, mine isn't working.

    • It should be still available and work in the same way.

What will you get if you tap and hold and blank area in home screen?

      • At first nothing, I restarted it and tried again after, it apparently kinda depends on the blank space. It wasn't working where I used to be able to do it but I figured it out eventually :)

  • I updated my S6 today and my shortcuts on my lock screen no longer show up. It says they are activated but none show up on the lock screen.

    • All I am seeing in edge screen is edge feeds and lighting. nothing to do with panel...can't even access on the edge of the phone...theres nothing

      • You can take a screenshot of the settings for edge screen so that others can see it. You can share it in our facebook page.

If you want to revert to Lollipop, you need visit local Samsung service center and ask them to flash Lollipop for you. Android does not have undo option for system updates.

Anyway, I still think the problem is very likely caused by some of your settings.

        • Panel will only show up in Standard Mode not Easy mode since after update. I like Easy mode - it's cleaner looking......is there a fix for this.

          • I am having the same issue. It is only available in standard mode but I also like to use easy mode.

          • If you don't like standard mode, your can always use summer third party apps. Easy mode removes so many features for Samsung apps and some system settings.

  • I'm sorry, I HATE the new update. My lock screen used to have the water effect, now it's gone. My texting key pad has changed. My Icons have changed...how do I uninstall Marshmallow 6.0?????

    • If you really hate the update, you can visit local Samsung service center to flash the phone to Lollipop.

Android (and other smartphone OSes) does not offer undo option. Don't try to flash the phone yourself unless you understand what you are doing.

  • Notifications are going off every 60 seconds on my (Verizon) Galaxy S6 until I clear it. I just want to hear my trusty sound when an email comes in, I don't want to have to clear the little notification bell, or listen to it every 60 seconds. I got an email in the middle of the night, and the darn notification kept going off every minute. Not conducive to a good night's sleep. (And I wanted to wake up to the alarm, so I had to have it by my bed.) How do I fix this so it works the way it used to? A notification shouldn't keep repeating like an alarm!

    • Very likely, you turned on notification reminder. You can turn it off in settings - accessibility - notification reminder.

Actually, you can also use do not disturb in evenings.

  • I just did the update and now my home screen has some kind of instructional text smack in the middle of my wallpaper picture and I don't know how to get rid of it. Please help

    • What text? Is it part of the wallpaper? You can take a screenshot and share it in our Facebook page so that others can see it.

      • Can you post a link to the Facebook page so I can send you my screen shot to show you what I mean? The text on talking about says "touch and hold screen to add items". I touch and hold, thinking doing the action will make the instruction go away, bit it doesn't, and I'm stuck with this text right across my kids' faces

  • How do i get back the water effect on lock screen, why all the updates want you to get rid of battery saving option (like with the bar at the top that's gray on battery saving option and black when it's off) and how to get back the sound when locking the phone that was before the update?

    • For the locking and unlocking sound, you can enabled/disable it in settings - sound & vibrations - screen lock sound.

Battery saving mode should be enabled only when you need it. Stock Android also use a different color to remind you that you are in battery saving mode and some features are disabled/limited.

  • Hi,
How do I get back the water effect of the lock screen after updating my smartfone?
Could you please help me to restore somehow the lock streen effect. I really liked that option and the lock screen effects are no longer available.

      • Thank you for the information. Is there any chance to get back to previous options? I can visit local Samsung service center to flash the phone to Lollipop right? if they do so will all my apps, photos etc remain untouched after doing it?

        • You must backup your phone before visiting the service center. Flashing your phone with Lollipop will erase EVERYTHING on the phone.

  • Is there also any chance to remove tha bar (the grey bar from the top of my home screen ) while having the power saving mode on??as I dont want to turn it off

    • No, you cannot change the status bar color when power saving mode is enabled.

Actually, it is not necessary to use it, for most Galaxy S6 owners. If you worry about background data, you can turn off WiFi and mobile data when you are not using them.

  • Since the update i cannot get sound on my text messages notifications. All my notifications are turned up to full any help would be appreciated

  • I am having the same issue. I can get sounds from my email, but not messages. And I have tried several different ringtones.

    • When you set notification tone for messages in Settings--Sound & vibration --Notificaiton sound-- Messages notifications, can you hear the sound?

  • Hi, I've updated My Galaxy S6 to Marshmallow and now when I make a call or when receiving one, the image from the contact doesn't appear. It only appears after i answer the call, and with Lollipop the image from the contacto is always available. Is there e way to make the behaviour like it was in Lollipop?

Specially when i receive a call it's very annoyning to read the contact, the image was a easier way to identify the caller.

    Thank you, Vasco Lopes

  • My phone recently upgraded to Marshmallow (at least, I'm assuming it did) and the Manual function is no longer available in the Settings screen. Is there some way to get it back?

(I know this may sound like a stupid question, but I'm really not that tech-savvy and only have a basic idea of how to use my phone...)

    • Are you talking about manual mode in camera app? It's available when you switch to rear camera as manual mode is for rear camera only. Also make sure you are in normal mode, not easy mode (settings - easy mode).

  • I want the water effects back on my lock screen. Thats the only complaint I have, so far.

    • the lock screen effect was removed in Android Marshmallow update for Galaxy S6.

if you really need such effects, you can try some lock screen apps, or third-party launcher. But I would not recommend any of them for S6.

      • what is the reason to remove the lock screen effect? Shouldnt that be up to the users if they want it or not?

        • I guess it's to clean the code base.

There are many third party launchers or lock screen apps other such a feature.

  • I just did my latest system update for my Samsung Galaxy s6, and I lost my "sparkling bubbles" unlock effect. Not to mention when I go to lock screen and security, the option "unlock effect" no longer appears. Was this something new from the system update where you can no longer have other effect options to unlock your phone? I'm not a fan of the swipe option and it's all I have now. Can anyone else help me?

    • Unlocking effects were removed in the Android Marshmallow update for Galaxy S6. Some third party launchers or lock screen apps may have similar features.

  • Hi bit of a simple question really but since the new marshmallow update when I am using the easy mode homescreen it seems very basic with no weather info or any way of adding or moving the time etc is this normal ???,

  • I want to know? When I change my theme it change the pic but not the icons? Why coz a thene isn't a theme without the icons. I don't like this update. I liked the unlock effect and that was also taken away! I hope Samsung will bring it back. Please help. I did update my themes but nothing. In the beginning it said some of the file galary (something like that) was missing. Please help!!!!

    • Not sure about the icon issues of the themes. You may backup the phone and try a factory data reset.

If you really need the unlock effects, you can try some third party launchers or lock screen apps.

      • I have tried that with no success. Have contacted Samsung but they cannot help me. When I change my theme it says: could not install multimedia message please try again later. I don't know how to download this. Am I the only one having this problem? Not even Samsung could fix this.

        • Some settings probably were messed up. You can backup the phone and try a factory data reset.

  • Before the update, my lock screen clock used to be left-justified. Now it is centered, making the minutes hard to read. Is there some way for me to move it back to where it was?

    • I don't think you can move it with the default launcher. You can try third-party launcher it lock screen apps to customize it if you really need to relocate the clock.

  • After update
I cannot find the motion and gestures option in the settings.
    S6 edge plus
    Anyone can help

    • In Marshmallow, the motion and gesture related settings can be found under Settings-- Advanced features.

  • hi friends i have got new sprint s6 edge from my friend as gift , i have unlocked it and using in India , now i got update 6.0.1 marshmallow ota notification but i was tensed little if i update it is that again i have to unlock my device please friends suggest me

    • Open WiFi notification?

Anyway, you can take a screenshot and share it on our Facebook page so that others can see the icon.

  • My s6 edge plus doesn't show the drop shadow in the clock and icons in the home screen. Is there a way to get back this option.

  • My issue is when I go give permission to an app, what pops up is there's an overlay detected so I would have to turn them all off but when I do it keeps looping me around and around saying the same thing and not letting me give permission for the app to work.

    Can anyone help me?

    • The problem is caused by one of the apps that already have the permission. You should turn off for all apps. The enable it for apps that you really need it.

  • Only got the S6 Edge last week, Marshmallow 6.0.1, so forgive me if these are dumb questions:

    1. Swiping down home screen shows notification from T-Mob saying 46 MB of plan data used. Edge screen Data Usage Manager says 829 MB used. (T-Mob confirms 46 MB.) Settings>Data Usage says Android OS used 782 GB. So is Edge Data Manager including data over WiFi? Any way to get the Edge screen Data Usage Manager to include only 4G LTE data usage?

    2. Edge screen Data Usage Manager seems mis-formatted. It says "Data Usage" in white letters in black stripe at top. Below that there's much longer stripe with orange background, followed by narrow black spacer separating a small stripe with blue background. The actual data usage info is written over the junction between the orange/black/blue, making it hard to read and annoying. Is that a bug? Should the data info all be in the orange part of the stripe? Any way to fix this?

    3. When any of the Edge screens is shown, there's a description of that screen in upper left corner of the main screen. Is there any way to turn off the descriptions? I think it's obvious what each Edge screen does without the description...

    Thanks!

    • 1. the data usage panel pulls data from Settings-- data usage and is mobile data usage only by default. In Settings--data usage, you can show both mobile data usage and total (WiFi+mobile). Tap More button in Settings--data uage, tap hide Wi-Fi usage to show mobile data usage only. This number should match what you get in the data usage panel.

The inconsistency of settings--data usage and T-mobile reporting can be cause by 1). the billing cycle. You can change the cycle in Settings--Data usage to match your billing cycle; 2). some data usages are NOT counted by T-Mobile, for example, Bing on. Anyway, you should always trust your carrier's number because they charge you based on this number.

      2. it is not a bug. Black background displays the limit you set, organge background displays the warning you set, and the blue background displays the actual usage. The problem is if you do not set limit or warning, a narrow strip is still there (without numbers). You can set the limit, warning in Settings--data usage-- Set mobile data limit. Limit is the maximum you can use. if you reach this number, mobile data will be disabled. Warning is a reminder once you reach this number.

      3. There are many new edge screen users. I think Samsung will leave the words there for long time.

  • For edge lighting how do I select a color for the person I used to do it but now with marshmallow I don't know how something changed

I want the edge light to be green for my brother and purple for my mom but don't know how to change the default colors

    • In settings - edge screen - edge panels. Tap the edit ( pencil ) icon, then you can set different colours for each favourite contact.

  • Hi-
Two questions about the S6 Edge with Marshmallow 6.0.1:

    1. Just started using the calendar app which was pre-installed. Got alert for first event I scheduled on desired date/time and deleted it on the alert screen. Next morning, got alert for same event at the set time. Clicked to delete, but message said "not found". Same thing on day 3. Opened calendar and the event is not listed on any of those dates or on any future date. Where is it hiding and how do I kill it?

    2. Usually charge phone with Samsung's stock charger overnight. It charges to 100% in a few hours using fast charging, but phone stays connected all night. Is there any advantage to turning off fast charging, even if it takes longer, since the phone is connected all night anyway?

    Thanks!

    • 1. When you get alerts again, you can tap and hold the corresponding notification on notification panel to find out whether it's from S Planner. You can also check settings in S Planner whether you added the event to your Google calendar.

      2. Turning off fast charging may give marginal benefit to the battery. But don't expect to much.

      • Only calendar that's active is listed as "My Calendars" on Manage Calendars screen. Samsung Calendar, Samsung Tasks, Google and all the others are off. Didn't get an alert for that event again today so maybe the gremlin is gone.

Turning off fast charging should mean less heat, so you don't think that better for the device?

        Thanks!

        • Thank you for the update.

For fast charging, the benefit is very marginal if you turn it off in settings - battery (or use lower power output chargers). Anyway, it's up to you.

  • Before marshmellow update on Verizon Samsung s6, when I put my phone on vibrate (like while at work) all three other Sound options, ie Media, Notifications and System, would be on vibrate also, so it would vibrate when I received a text message.

Now, when i put the ringtone on vibrate, it completely turns off notifications and systems. Can't even manually swipe them over to the right to set them to function. Any ideas?

    • you have to consider this a feature. There are no options to change this in Samsung devices (this is not the behaviour in stock Android)

  • After updating my samsung s6 to 6.0.1 matshmellow. The background on my phone is back, with icons. The status bar has gone and when someone calls there is no display. Any ideas? I have reset factory settings and have now lost all contacts, pics etc and still the back ground is back and still have the other issues. Im ready to smash my phone up. Please help

    • You should back up your phone before resetting. Also, you should save contacts to your Google account so that you can access them from any devices. Photos can be backed up automatically with Photos app which was installed on your phone already.

If you get background, can you change the wallpaper?

      • The phone appers to allow me to change background but nothing happens, it stays black. There is no call display when someone rings and no task bar. I did back up my data but it hasnt recovered.

        • If I were you, I would reset (factory data reset, not just reset settings) the phone. Of course, you should back up your data before resetting.

  • Galaxy S6 Edge, Marshmallow 6.0.1

Can't activate the setting for call waiting notification. The Call Waiting slider is Off, and I can't move it to On. (Never tried to change this before today...)

    Any suggestions?

    • Forgot to mention that Call Forwarding and Call Barring on also greyed out on same screen as Call Waiting. Does that suggest that some other "master" setting is off?

      • It seems your carrier doesn't support these features. You may check with your carrier to see whether your subscription includes such features or not.

        • Simon,
Turns out those 3 features are not available when the S6 Edge is set to use WiFi calling as the preferred method, eg, "Use WiFi for calls. If WiFi unavailable, use cellular network." which is the default setting on T-Mob. (Don't know about other carriers.)

If I turn WiFi calling off, the 3 features, call forwarding, call barring, and call waiting, are immediately available.

Seems odd setup, but it is what it is...

          • Call forwarding, and call waiting are usually features of cellular network. Very likely, WiFi calling is not compatible with them.

  • I cant update my device (Samsung S6) from Lollipop to Marshmallow. It keeps saying device registration failed. What is the problem? Kindly assist.

    • When did you get the message? What's exactly the message? Did you try to reboot the phone to see whether it helps?

      • I keep getting the message everytime i trying to download the update. I have tried rebooting many times. Am thinking of trying to restore factory settings.

        • When you check the update or download the update? Did the phone tell you there are updates?

          Did you root the phone?

  • I have a question I have a sm-g920v model and every time I try to update to marshmallow I tells me that it is unavailable and to try again later can someone tell me how can I update it

    • Did you try to update through Samsung Kies on a PC? As the phone is carrier specific model, you need connect to carrier's network to get update. If you are using a sim card from other carriers or in other regions, you can try to power off the phone, remove the SIM card, and try again.

  • Hope you smart people can help me :) I'm having problems accessing "permissions" for different apps. It just pops up that I have to turn of screen overlay in the settings, but when I go there, I don't have to permission to do so... It is driving me completely insane bc I can use almost all my apps. I restarted in all the way back to factory settings with no improvement...

    • What app complaints this? You can check it in Settings - applications - application manager, tap more button, tap apps that can show on top.

  • S6 Edge (Marshmallow 6.0.1) was behaving badly - wouldn't send MMS, frequent black screens etc. Powering off and rebooting didn't help.

Followed instructions to clear the cache partition and when it rebooted there was notice of pending OTA update (T-Mob). Hadn't seen that notice before clearing the cache.

Anybody know what that update was? The update was ~640 MB and took ~10 min to install with "Android working..." on the screen. It still says Android 6.0.1 so it wasn't updating to Nougat which T-Mob's site says is coming...

At least the phone is behaving better now, so maybe the pending update was responsible for all the bad behavior..??

    Thanks!

  • Since updating my S6 to Marshmallow 6.0.1 my home button does not take me home when i am in any other screen. i have to use the back key. but it does recognize my fingerprint.

    • Do you have other issues, for example notification shade cannot be pulled down? If yes, you should back up your phone and try a factory data reset. If not, you can try to clear cache partition.

  • I have the update on my S6 I changed my pin and it did a reboot, I have no recollection of my pin, and my fingerprint is not working as primary security with this update as indicated. How can I get in my phone? I can not afford a reset because I have precious pictures , which I can not afford to lose. My back up is not set up to auto back up and doesn't include the pics. I've called Samsung support not much help at all, and neither was Google support . :( It is ridiculous that I can't get in my own phone, with google account, fingerprint etc without doing a full reset . Any help appreciated...

  • Hi guys, ever since the new update for Galaxy S6 Edge, the inactive widgets in the notification bar are not visible. For example previously when the torch was not in use, the torch button was greyed out but clearly visible and easy to see in case you wanted to switch it on. Also when in silent mode the sound widget that lets you cycle between vibrate, full sound, or on silent mode is now invisible. There is just a blank spot where the inactive widget should be. This has to be an error, has anyone else experienced this? Can anyone tell me how to fix it?

    • This is not normal. There should be no black spots between buttons on quick settings.

You should try to clear cache partition to see whether it helps.

  • Can I disable the lock waiting time in my cellphone? Imagine that you have a little boy and he picks up your cellphone for a moment, in this case you can not use your phone for 10 minutes or more! specially in a trip this is horrible!

  • How do I "UNDO" the Marshmellow update on my Galaxy S6? I DON'T LIKE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS UPDATE! I would rather go without a phone
than to have to suffer any longer with this update that won't let me open up the apps I use daily. My phone now closes apps by itself or freezes up when I finally get it to open. Just point me to the "UNDO" button please.

    • Unfortunately, Android doesn't offer the option to uninstall updates. If you got so many problems after an update, you should back up the phone and try a factory data reset.

Anyway, the official way to rollback an update is to flash the phone in the local service centre. They have the correct ROM for your region. Don't do it by yourself unless you know what you are doing.

  • hey, my data connection icon is disapeared from my galaxy s6 the nottification pannel how can i solve it?

    • First, you can also enable access it in setting -- SIM card manager.

You are probably referring to quick setting buttons. Did you try this guide?

  • Is there not a way to change set data limits and restricted data usage with this update? I'm really frustrated with it.
