with Mi Remote which did not work with my TV Sony Bravia I did uninstall Mi Remote
BUT
Instead of the welcome screen I get now a Mi remote asking me to add a remote
I do not want that app,
and further more I want to access direct the menu screen not that frozen page
It's a time wasting thing..

Not sure because we don't use Mi Remote app. Did you feedback to the Mi community?
Is there any ways to add or remove Home Screen Panes on Android 9?
It depends on the launcher. Most launchers (e.g., Samsung One UI) allow you to add empty home screen panels and you can delete non-empty panels. Some (e.g., the stock Pixel launcher)don't and you have to add or move an app to the empty panel.
